What is First Time Lord?

In a world where I’ve seen the movie Ghostbusters more than 10 times in a proper movie theater, and thousands of times on home video, I have never seen a single episode of Doctor Who. Don’t misunderstand me, from what I understand of the show, it should be right in my wheel house. I just never had the time, or more aptly, made the time to watch it. Until now.

I intend to dive into the series. Starting with that is listed on Streaming sites as Season 1. My understanding is that even though Season 1 first aired in 2005, the name and show Doctor Who goes back to the 60s. See, I guess I know some things, without googling them. I also know that the Doctor uses a sonic screw driver (what ever that is) and that he travels in a vehicle called a Tardis, which looks like a phone booth with no visible windows. I’ve heard people talk about the Doctors “companions” and his “regenerations,” but I have NO idea what they mean by ether.

So, I plant to record a podcast with my thoughts and experiences watching each episode of Doctor Who. I intend to have Doctor Who fans, and even Doctor Who experts join me, as I am sure I will have lots of questions. I am excited to finally get some clarity on what I consider to be one of my largest pop culture blindspots.
